Burglaries, Thefts Spike in Lower Merion, Federal Report Shows

Lower Merion saw an increase in burglaries and thefts last year.

More things were stolen in  in 2010 than at any time in the preceding decade, according to Uniform Crime Report statistics from the FBI.

Lower Merion's violent crimes have for three years running accumulated less than in prior years, but the 1,115 recorded property crimes (burglaries, thefts, vehicles thefts and arsons) in 2010 were 27 percent more than the 876 in 2009.
