Brotherhood Ride Cycles Through Bryn Mawr On the Way to Ground Zero

Firefighters and police officers make the trek from Naples, Florida to Ground Zero.

Police officers and firefighters from Florida, Texas and the Carolinas bicycled through the Main Line on Friday morning as part of the fourth annual Brotherhood Ride in honor of fallen firefighters and police officers. They planned to arrive at Ground Zero Saturday afternoon for 9/11 anniversary events in New York City.

Their 1,600-mile trek from Naples, FL, to the Big Apple traveled right along the Main Line on Friday morning. The riders went from Coatesville, PA, to Princeton, NJ, on day 21 of the 22-day cycling trip. The riders were escorted by local police and firefighters from Lower Merion, Radnor, ,  and other local townships all along the ride.

They took their first break of the day Friday at the Bryn Mawr Fire Co., before heading east along the Main Line, through Philadelphia and north to Princeton, NJ. As the riders left Bryn Mawr, they were saluted by the Bryn Mawr Fire Co.'s call siren.
