Armed Carjacker Strikes in Lower Merion Retirement Community

A Rosemont couple were victimized late one night in their parking garage, police say.

A resident of a secluded Rosemont retirement community was forced at gunpoint from his car, then saw it stolen, last week in a parking garage there, Lower Merion police said Tuesday.

About 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 on Pasture Lane in the Beaumont at Bryn Mawr community, a resident pulled his 2007 Mercedes Benz into the Baldwin building's garage, let his wife out of the car and was backing into his designated space when someone opened his driver's door, police said.

The victim later told police a black man between ages 20 and 30, standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall, pointed a gun at him and ordered him to get out of the car, which he did.
