Aide Charged With Theft After Video Sting at Bryn Mawr Retirement Community

A previous complaint prompted an investigation.

A health aide at the retirement community is being charged with theft after hidden video footage showed her taking $10 from a woman's wallet Monday morning, police said Tuesday.

After the woman had noticed money missing another time, Beaumont staff set up a camera in her room.

About 11:30 a.m. Monday, Angela Dempster, 52, of the 7200 block of Ardleigh Street in Mount Airy was seen taking the money, police said.

Dempster will be charged via summons, police said. She is a “third-party private companion,” not a Beaumont employee, and she will not be allowed back at the facility, said Beaumont President Joe Fortenbaugh.

It was not clear whether Dempster might be charged in connection with any other missing-money complaint by the patient.
