7-Eleven Robbed at Gunpoint, Again

The investigation is ongoing, according to Lower Merion Police.

Though no one was injured, Lower Merion Police are reporting that, for the second time in little more than a month, the 7-Eleven in Wynnewood was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning.

According to police, on July 28 at 5:21 a.m. they received a call from inside the 1401 City Avenue convenience store indicating that there was a robbery in progress. As police drove to the shop, they heard on county radio that the robber had run away from the scene.

A witness told police that a man—described as approximately 5-feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build and wearing a gray sweatshirt and dark jeans—had entered the store carrying a duffel bag and a "long" gun.

The man told the clerk to stand behind the register, empty all the cash therein, and stack it on the counter. The witness told police the clerk complied and the man shoved the cash in the bag before running out of the store's front entrance and across the parking lot, headed southeast.

Police checked the area and didn't find anyone.

The investigation is ongoing according to officer Anthony Morello, and police are reviewing the store's surveillance footage.

On June 19, the store was robbed, also at gunpoint, by a man wearing a ski-mask who the clerk believed was in his mid-20s. Lower Merion Police tried to track the man with the help of a K9, but lost his scent near the border with Haverford Township.
