Super lice, or Basic Evolution?

Super lice or super resistant lice? It's proven what pro nit picker have seen for yrs. Lice & their nits are resistant to the OTC & prescription pesticide. Product failure & lack of lice education are the reason for increased outbreaks!

Super lice or not may be the question these days, but either way they are a nuisance.  You can call them what you want but there is nothing out of the ordinary about a bug that has evolved to meet the changing needs of its environment.  Simply enough, lice have evolved to protect themselves from their enemy.  For a long time, their enemy has been the neurotoxins meant to attack their nervous system.  Chemicals like pyrethrin and permethrin-based products were used for years to kill lice and their eggs.  So lice did not just become resistant overnight.  Click here for lice facts

First, the female louse developed a protein to protect the nits.  Then, that protein evolved to protect the exoskeleton of the actual lice. They have been evolvingover the past +40 years.  When the most recognized and widely used products to treat lice are no longer effective enough to completely eliminate an infestation, you eventually will have a rise in cases of lice – like today.  So they are still lice – the same lice that have been around for as long as time.  But these lice have grown super resistant to the chemicals in the most widely used OTC products so they aren’t as effective.

The recent rise in lice cases can be attributed to product failure and poor education.  The Center for Lice Control is working to help both of these issues.  We know that we must also adapt and use different technologies, products, and properly educate.

Lice are still a harmless human parasite that is a tremendous nuisance. I have been treating families with lice for many years and news about resistance is not new. The frustration parents feel after using Rid or Nix, following the instructions, and still seeing all stages of live lice after treating is defeating and very upsetting. In my job as a professional nitpicker, I have seen first hand the product failure and that is why I had to create KaPOW! products.  Products like KaPOW! are Safe and effective.  I have now used KaPOW! to help thousands of families get rid of lice and most of them tried to take care of it on their own before they called me.  KaPOW! has no harmful chemicals or pesticides and works every time – I guarantee it.

But a great product is not enough.  You have to understand lice to defeat them and that is why our website is full support with real pictures, videos, and through info to be efficient and effective when checking for or treating lice.  I also created Lice Control Lessons -  workshops for schools and camps to educate kids, parents and staff.  Invite us in to educate YOUR community. I am a mom of 4 and someone that has been on the front line of dealing with this evolving strain of lice or “super lice”.   The Center For Lice Control’s mission is to educate families to understand the life cycle of a louse so they can be proactive and do weekly head checks on their kids.

Pediatricians and school nurses are fantastic – but they are rarely lice experts and they often do not know what lice looks like or do a quick visual head check.  Often they are quick to recommend traditional OTC options.  But we are learning that those don’t work, right? I have checked many kids who thought they were cleared or told they had lice, only to find the opposite.

We know that products like KaPOW! lice products (and a good education) will reduce and stop lice outbreaks, but we also know that this won’t happen for everyone until pediatricians and school nurses become better educated and leave the cures of yesterday behind and embrace a future of better education.
