Riverbend’s Trees are TREEmendous! won’t let a little rain get in their way

Riverbend Environmental Education Center is ready to host its rescheduled Trees are TREEmendous! event on Sunday, May 6th from 1-4 pm.

The rain may have washed out many plans on Earth Day, but soaked it all in and is ready to host its rescheduled Trees are TREEmendous! event on Sunday, May 6th from 1-4 pm.  Along with presenting sponsor Shreiner Tree Care, Riverbend invites adults and children (for free!) to come to 1950 Spring Mill Road to learn about the importance of trees, participate in service opportunities and enjoy activities for everyone.

Riverbend enjoys celebrating their mission of teaching environmental principles to children through hands on learning and events that unite their local community.  “Every day is Earth Day at Riverbend and it has never been more important to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment,” says Laurie Bachman, Executive Director.

At Trees are TREEmendous!, breakout sessions will be led by experts in the field about the benefits of trees, the importance of native vs. non-native trees and plants, choosing trees for your landscape, and more!  Throughout the afternoon fun activities for children will be going on including crafts, scavenger’s hunts and our Tall, Tall Trees Program, which teaches children the fundamentals about trees and their importance to the environment.  Riverbend will also provide service opportunities for people such as planting saplings and cutting invasive, non-native vines, off of trees.  Additionally, there will be several raffle items, valuing in over $700 including items from Mostardi’s Nursery and EMS of Havertown and more.
