Four years ago Riverbend combined their two most popular fall events, Haunted Trails and Forest Frolic into one activity filled family fun event named Shiverfest. Since then the event has grown into a must see community event where families can gather and celebrate the fall season.

On Saturday, October 13th, 2012, Riverbend Environmental Education Center will be hosting their annual Halloween- themed event with presenting sponsor, PECO. From 4:00-9:00 pm families are invited to come to Riverbend’s tucked away location at 1950 Spring Mill Road to participate in various family fun events including pumpkin decorating, a moon bounce, trick or treat and haunted trails, reptiles, storytelling and more.

Riverbend is also excited to add some new entertaining activities to the event throughout the evening including pony rides, petting zoo and a pumpkin toss. “We are looking forward to a great day for families to celebrate the harvest season and enjoy some Halloween fun” says Laurie Bachman, Executive Director.

Thanks to sponsors, staff, and volunteers Shiverfest has become Riverbend’s largest fundraising event. Proceeds from Shiverfest support their purpose to “Grow Greener Children” by increasing a child’s knowledge about the natural world and inspiring responsible environmental behavior. In 2011, Riverbend served more than 12,000 children in Southeastern Pennsylvania and provided students with almost 22,000 hours of learning and discovery in and about nature.

Shiverfest tickets, while they last, are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Children 3 and under are free so mark your calendar for a night of fall fun!
