Gwen Bianchi’s Commitment to Riverbend Honored with Bench Dedication

Gwen Bianchi, stepping down after nine years on the board of Riverbend Environmental Education Center, was honored with a bench dedicated to her and her outstanding service to the Center.

On Tuesday, April 10th, Gwen Bianchi, stepping down after nine years on the board of , was honored with a bench dedicated to her and her outstanding service to the Center. Her involvement began as a parent whose children attended summer camp at Riverbend and led to a becoming a deeply engaged board member, including serving as the board chair from 2005-2008.

Riverbend’s Executive Director, Laurie Bachman, stated that Ms. Bianchi was truly an ambassador for Riverbend, and “engaged the interest of a broad group of community supporters that had not been previously involved in Riverbend.” Her legacy at Riverbend continues with the families and children impacted by the Center’s programs. The bench was unveiled on April 10th, at a ceremony attended by Ms. Bianchi, her family and friends, and members of the board at Riverbend. The piece was created by sculptor Marty Long and the dedication plaque on the front reads, “In honor of Gwen Bianchi and her love of Riverbend.”
