GENO’S STEAKS PRESENTS: THE CALAMARI SISTERS’ BIG FAT ITALIAN WEDDING

Fresh from sold out engagements across the

country, the outrageously funny and sassy duo, known as the Calamari Sisters, are

returning to Philly! The two sisters will be in the city of brotherly love with a brand

new show: The Calamari Sisters’ Big Fat Italian Wedding. The two month run kicks

off at the Penn’s Landing Playhouse on February 20th (right after Valentine’s Day)

and runs through March 23rd – just in time for wedding season!

Carmela and Delphine Calamari have been cracking up audiences with the “live

broadcast” of their fabulous cooking show, Cooking with The Calamari Sisters since

their opening show back in 2011. The cooking demonstration is totally authentic –

the girls even received training at The Culinary Institute of America – so come

hungry. Who knows, the ladies might even sneak you a little sausage (from

Cappuccio’s Meats in the Italian Market, of course), Mangia! Mangia!

“The girls are so thrilled to be returning to Philadelphia,” says Co-Producer and Co-

Creator Dan Lavender. “Any city with a national symbol that’s a sandwich stuffed

with meat and cheese is fine by them!”

Local fans will remember the 2012 Society Hill Playhouse run of Cooking with The

Calamari Sisters that started it all. Carmela and Delphine also made a return to our

area this past Black Friday for a one-day, Christmas show spectacular in Pitman,

New Jersey. The two-woman show has developed a masscult following in the last

few years, making multiple spin offs possible.

Who knew that just after three years of bursting onto the musical comedy scene

that one of the girls would be getting married? Or will they? There is nothing like

attempting to cater an arranged Italian wedding to bring out the crazy i.e. hilarity!

Audiences can look forward to splitting their sides (and maybe their pants) while

they watch the sisters sing, dance and cook up a storm as they try to make it to the

church on time.

Geno Vento, President of Geno’s Steaks and theatre aficionado, is both sponsoring

and co-producing this hilarious production.

“A big, fat Italian wedding brings out all the nutty relatives,” says Geno the

cheesteak King turned Theatre Producer. “I am just happy to be here and keep the

girls calm during all the cooking and wedding planning insanity!”

Will the girls walk down the aisle? Will the wedding be as perfect as they dreamed?

Will the meatballs be hot enough? RSVP and find out!

Starting on Februrary 20th and running through March 23rd, The Calamari Sisters’

Big Fat Italian Wedding will have four shows weekly: three evening shows

(Thursdays at 7pm, Friday and Saturday at 8pm) and a 2pm Sunday matinee.

Tickets for the Penn’s Landing Playhouse production run $45-$55 and are available

for purchase at https://www.smarttix.com/show.aspx?showCode=CAL10

The Penn’s Landing Playhouse is located in the Independence Seaport Museum at
