the Conservancy and Kelly Wiles, historian and graduate of the University of
Pennsylvania program in Historic Preservation for a lecture on the Main Line’s
connection to the RMS Titanic. The April 1912 RMS Titanic voyage included a
handful of passengers from Philadelphia and its suburbs. Hear the stories of
residents like John Borland Thayer, president of the Pennsylvania Railroad, and
other passengers and how the Titanic trip changed their lives forever.
Kelly Wiles is a graduate of the University of
Pennsylvania's School of Design program of Historic Preservation. A native of
South Carolina, she also received a Bachelor's degree in Historic Preservation & Community Planning and Art History and has worked for a number of cultural
institutions in the Philadelphia area including the Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks, Eastern State Penitentiary, National Society of
the Colonial Dames of America and Villanova University. Her interests include
Titanic, John F. Kennedy, the Revolutionary War and the decorative arts.
