Oscar-winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire127 Hours) returned to the theater to direct this visionary production of Frankenstein, a play by Nick Dear, based on the novel by Mary Shelley. Frankenstein encores at BMFI in celebration of the National Theatre's 50th anniversary.

Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein's bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.

Throughout the run of Frankenstein at the National Theatre, Benedict Cumberbatch (SherlockStar Trek Into Darkness) and Jonny Lee Miller (TrainspottingElementary) alternated the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. Wednesday's screening will feature Jonny Lee Miller as Victor and Benedict Cumberbatch as the Creature. The actors will switch roles for Sunday's performance.

Please note that this production contains themes of an adult nature.
