The Week Ahead: 5 Things to Know

A heads up for those who live or work in Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne, Villanova and Rosemont.

1. The Planning Commission at 7 p.m. Monday will discuss 's proposal to subdivide its 822 W. Lancaster Ave. property and consolidate it with the property at 27 Central Ave. as part of BMFI's expansion plans. The proposal will be discussed further at a Wednesday night Board of Commissioners building and planning committee meeting.

2. is hosting its annual 9/11 remembrance at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The ceremony will include music, speeches, videos and time for reflection. .

3. There will be a public hearing at 6 p.m. Wednesday for those with opinions about Lower Merion Township's plan to ease restrictions for those trying to put former houses of worship to new uses. This is especially important in Gladwyne, where with the intent to add multi-family residential housing on Righters Mill Road.

4. Another public hearing, on a plan to raise trash-collection fees 9 percent, is likely to be scheduled for Oct. 17, if the Board of Commissioners approves the relevant item Wednesday night.

5. DUI checkpoints and roving patrols are scheduled for the weekend in Lower Merion in an effort to decrease drunk driving, according to a township release.
