Bryn Mawr 100 Celebration

  • When/Where: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the gazebo on Bryn Mawr Avenue behind Ludington Library. The Bryn Mawr Farmers Market will also be open, and many businesses along Lancaster Avenue will be holding sidewalk sales.
  • Why Go: It's the celebration Bryn Mawr Patch has been l for the past month: 19 institutions in Bryn Mawr are more than 100 years old. Enjoy old-time games, take a bus tour of the sites, or watch concerts and a brief ceremony to honor Bryn Mawr's history.
  • Cost: Free

Family Arts Festival

  • When/Where: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Main Line Art Center, 746 Panmure Road, Haverford
  • Why Go: It's Main Line Art Center's 75th anniversary, and to celebrate, they're hosting a free art festival in their garden. The event features entertainment, food and hands-on art projects for children.
  • Cost: Free

Friendship Fair

  • When/Where: 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11 at Congregation Beth Hamedrosh at 200 Haverford Road, Wynnewood
  • Why Go:  Friendship Fair is an afternoon of family fun centered around hands on activities between teenage volunteers and children with special needs. At this fair the children with special needs will jump on their all-time Friendship Circle favorite, a moon bounce and get a chance to make their own shofar for the upcoming Jewish New Year.
  • Cost: Free

Philadelphia Undy 5000

  •  When/Where: 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 on Martin Luther King Drive (next to the Art Museum) in Philadelphia. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.
  • Why Go: This event to raise funds for and awareness of colon cancer was created by the Colon Cancer Alliance, which was .
  • Cost: $40 for 5K adults (14 and older), $35 for 5K youth (6 to 13) and $30 for an all-ages 1-mile fun run. Kids 5 and younger may participate in the fun run for free.

September Bird Walk: General Wayne Park

  • When/Where: 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11 at General Wayne Park, 305 Maplewood Ave., Merion Station
  • Why Go: Enjoy a walk through nature with gardener and naturalist Helen Peachey and the Lower Merion Conservancy’s Patty Thompson to learn about the park's birds—woodpeckers, migrating warblers, thrushes and more. Ages 8 and older.  All levels of birders are welcome; bring binoculars and field guides if possible. Park on the street and meet at the Maplewood Avenue entrance.

Tenth Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

  • When/Where: 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, at the , 901 W. Lancaster Ave., Bryn Mawr
  • Why Go: The Bryn Mawr Fire Co. hosts the ceremony annually to honor those whose lives were taken on Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Cost: Free

Multi-Faith Commemoration of Sept. 11

  • When/Where: 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, at , 568 Montgomery Ave., Bryn Mawr
  • Why Go: The service begins with a time of silent prayer and meditation at 3:30 p.m., and continues with a musical performance at 4 p.m. A multi-faith commemoration of Sept. 11 will begin at 4:30, led by leaders of area mosques, churches and synagogues.
