Fallen Trees Close Roads in Lower Merion

Windblown trees caused a number of blocked roads throughout the township Sunday.

Several roads were closed by fallen trees throughout Lower Merion at various times Sunday, police said.

Those roads included Airdale Road between Old Gulph Road and Montgomery Avenue, Spring Mill Road (also between Old Gulph and Montgomery) and Mill Creek Road near Crosby Brown Road in Gladwyne and Penn Valley.

The wreckage of a wind-blown tree or trees also closed Wynnewood Road between Knox and Ballytore Road Sunday morning and afternoon.

The affected part of Wynnewood Road makes up part of the boundary between Ardmore and Wynnewood, just west of where it passes through the borough of Narberth.

On Saturday afternoon, a woman was in a Rosemont College parking lot after high winds caused a large tree to fall on top of it, officials said. It took crews about 40 minutes to get her out of the car, and she was taken to Paoli Memorial Hospital for treatment.
