Restaurant Roundup: The Grog to Paramour

Patch reviews The Grog, MilkBoy Coffee, Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop, Mandarin Kitchen, Christopher Chocolates, Quotations, Evviva, Sorrento's Italian Restaurant, Sweet Elizabeth's and Paramour at the Wayne Hotel.

Looking for a good restaurant to go to this weekend?

Bryn Mawr-Gladwyne Patch brought you the details of  Thursday. Stop in for some excellent fish and chips and great beer selection. If you’re like me, you’ll want to head in earlier rather than later to avoid the boisterous crowds. Click  for the review.

If that restaurant isn’t to your liking, check out other area restaurants that Patch reviewed this week:

A perfectly balanced pumpkin latte and vegan scrapple await you at this leisurely coffee shop which now offers table service. Bring your computer as there is free wi-fi to boot. Click for the review.

A gourmet bonanza right in Chestnut Hill that offers more than just a killer selection of cheese, this shop has it all. Enjoy the Maytag Blue, picholine olives, pate, chocolates and other European delights. Click for the review.

Most of the luncheon specials hover around the $5 mark despite being large enough to feed two. In this depressed economic climate it’s nice to know that there are still deals to be found. Try the General Tso’s chicken, it’s delicious. Click for the review.

This guy fondly remembers folding candy boxes with his mom for a nickel a piece and being too small to lift a 50-pound bag of sugar. These days the sugar bag is no problem for him and he can make all the delicious items in the candy shop. Click for the Meet the Chef.

Truly one of the greatest selections of beer I have come across in the greater Philadelphia area is available at this unassuming Media bar and restaurant. Equally amazing is their fancy cheesesteak masquerading as a beef filet sandwich. Click  for the review.

Four star food and 4 star service in an elegant dining room is available on the Main Line at this local BYOB. The butternut squash soup, salmon tartare and duck were out of this world. Click for the review.

The bruschetta and gnocchi are great here, but the service and wait are not. A better bet is to come during the week when it’s not as insane as it is on a Saturday night. Click for the review.

She used to wake up before dawn just so she could go work at a French bakery. Now she has a bake shop of her very own, and Manayunk is the luckier for it. Click  for the Meet the Chef/Owner.

A talented chef who has worked and opened more restaurants than he can remember is about to unleash his magic at this newly renovated restaurant. The food is lighter and more modern than at other places but just as delicious. Click for the Meet the Chef.
