Moms Eat Local: Lourdas Greek Taverna

Find out how kid-friendly Lourdas Greek Taverna in Bryn Mawr is.

Moms know how tough it can be to eat out with little ones. Patch wants to help you know before you walk in the door if Lourdas Greek Taverna is a good place to eat with your children.

Restaurant:

Is there a kids’ menu? Not officially, but kids will love seeing the flaming cheese (saganaki) and enjoy the grilled chicken (souvlaki) and perhaps the spanikopita (spinach and cheese pastries).

Are there healthy options on the menu? The grilled meats are cooked with minimal fat, the salads are delicious and there are plenty of vegetarian options. The tzatziki (yogurt, cucumber and dill dip) is also fairly healthy.

How does the restaurant deal with food allergies? Alert your server and they will be as accommodating as they can be.

Is the restaurant so quiet that any childish outburst will draw attention, or is there enough noise that a small cry is likely to go unnoticed? It depends on how filled the dining room is. When we first arrived, there were not that many people and it was fairly quiet. But by the end of our dinner, the dining room was packed so small cries would go unnoticed. As a BYOB though, it does tend to attract mostly (if not all) adults.
