Moms Eat Local: Hope's Cookies

Moms know how tough it can be to eat out with little ones. Patch wants to help you know before you walk in the door if Hope's Country Fresh Cookies is a good place to eat with your children.

Is there a kids’ menu? The whole store is kid-friendly--it's cookies, muffins, ice cream, milkshakes and fruit.

Are there healthy options on the kids’ meal? There are numerous low-fat ice creams and yogurts available. The cookies are not as large as other commercial bakeries so portion control is already taken care of for you. The milkshakes can be made with low-fat yogurt and skim milk so they are actually not that bad. Even better--the milkshakes always come with a little bonus cup so you and your little one can both enjoy.

How does the restaurant deal with food allergies? It's a bakery connected to a pizza place so those with severe gluten allergies should probably stay away. In addition, there are many items made with dairy so those who are extremely lactose intolerant probably won't have much luck here. The situation is similar for those with chocolate allergies. I am allergic to oranges, and I am perfectly fine here. Be sure to alert the staff of your allergy and they will be as accommodating as they can be.

Is the restaurant so quiet that any childish outburst will draw attention or is there enough noise that a small cry is likely to go unnoticed? Kids and babies are more than welcome here.
