Lord & Taylor's New Neighbor(s) Due to Arrive in Spring

A Corner Bakery and other retail businesses are in the works in Bala Cynwyd, according to Federal Realty.

Tenants of 10,000 square feet of new retail space next to and at City and Belmont avenues are expected to open in the second quarter of 2012, a representative of property owner Federal Realty told Patch Tuesday.

Corner Bakery has already leased 4,000 square feet of the space, Federal Realty marketing director Andrea Simpson said. There is a Corner Bakery .

As for the rest of the building, "we are in conversations with a few potential retailers but are not at a point where we can announce anything officially," Simpson said via email. "The uses for the new construction will be of a similar nature as to what exists at the (Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center) currently."

It would be nice to get Panera Bread in the new site but that won't work with Corner Bakery already coming. Taco Bell is already across the street and not the quality location for the space. A coffee shop, book store, or Buffalo Wild Wings would be good.

Ugh, Another Taco Bell? That is something we do NOT need. How about a Burger King? Or better yet, a beer distributor!! it would be a gold mine in that location!

Well, when the new Taco Bell opens at City/Conshohocken, the old one across from the Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center will close. It's the same owners.

Any word on what else is going in next to the Corner Bakery?

No other leases are official, according to the township's building and planning department.
