Grocery Delivery Service Comes to Bryn Mawr

Peapod began delivering groceries in the area on Sept. 30.

With shut down for repairs until Spring and closing its doors for the last time in two weeks, GIANT has some welcome news for Bryn Mawr residents: delivery groceries are on the way.

Peapod, an online subsidiary of GIANT that delivers groceries to users' doorsteps, expanded its operation to Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne on Sept. 30.

It works like this: by logging onto www.peapod.com, users can order items from GIANT supermarkets for delivery the following day. First time Peapod users will be asked to enter a valid email address and zip code. After placing a minimum order of $60 (you can search items by brand name, product type, recipe, or by special deals), users select a two-hour window for delivery time for the following day before entering their home address and specific delivery instructions.

The service is free for the first 60 days, after which it costs $9.95 for orders under $100 and $7.95 for orders over $100. There are additional discounts for the use of a bank card or the selection of a wider delivery window (for example: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. rather than 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.)
