Baby Cow Statue is Stolen, Recovered

Hope's Cookies in Rosemont announced Thursday morning that "Baby Moo," the smaller of the two cow statues in front of the store, had been stolen.

The following announcement went out from the Rosemont store's PR staff:

“Baby Moo”, the little calf that has been a local landmark at Hope’s Cookies in Rosemont (1125 W. Lancaster Avenue; 610-527-4488) is missing again.

This is the second time that Baby Moo, whose gender is unknown, has been taken from "Mama Moo". Baby Moo was last seen grazing at Hope’s Cookies Wednesday night.

“Someone kidnapped our Baby Moo Wednesday night or Thursday morning between the hours of 10PM and 8AM,” notes owner Herb Spivak. “Mama Moo is inconsolable and wants her baby back. We are offering a $500 reward for the safe return of the calf, no questions asked.”

About 1:45 p.m. there came an update: Villanova University Public Safety staff had seen someone getting out of a taxi with Baby Moo. The apparent perpetrator fled the scene without the cow, which university staff took possession of.

The investigation continues as authorities seek the identity of the statue thief.
