Rosemont School Boys' Varsity Finishes Second in Catholic Academy League
Rosemont School of the Holy Child’s varsity boys’ basketball team was the runner-up in the Catholic Academy League this winter.
The Falcons finished tied for second during the regular season, and advanced to the championship game by defeating the second-place team, Norwood-Fontbonne Academy, 40-27, on Feb. 26 in the first round of the playoffs.
Rosemont School met the regular-season champion, Ancillae-Assumpta Academy, in the title contest at Philadelphia University’s Gallagher Center on Feb. 26. RSHC fell behind by 11, 20-9, in the first half but closed to within two points, 25-23, with less than five minutes to play. However, Ancillae-Assumpta took control from there and recorded a 39-27 decision.

This was the second time in three years that the two teams have met in the championship game. In 2012, the Falcons defeated Ancillae-Assumpta in overtime, 50-49.
