School Starts Tuesday in Lower Merion

Students, parents, neighbors and anyone who regularly drives through the township should be aware of the school day schedules.

The public Lower Merion School District began its first day of 2013-2014 classes on Tuesday.

The first bell for Lower Merion and Harriton high school students will be at 7:25 a.m. each day, and the last period will end at 2:40 p.m, according to lmsd.org.

School days run from 8:10 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. at Welsh Valley and Bala Cynwyd middle schools. Students in grades 1 through 5 will attend from 9 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. at the six elementary schools: Belmont Hills, Cynwyd, Gladwyne, Merion, Penn Valley and Penn Wynne.

Morning kindergarten runs from 9 to 11:50 a.m., afternoon kindergarten from 12:45 to 3:35 p.m.

Many private schools in Lower Merion and Narberth also begin classes this week, or early next week.
