Off To See The Wizard At The Bryn Mawr Film Institute

Bryn Mawr Film Institute hosted a "Wizard of Oz" sing-along on Tuesday night, and costumes were encouraged.

Tuesday night, dozens of fans followed the yellow brick road to a Wizard of Oz sing-along at the . Costumes were encouraged and rewarded with a free popcorn for the show. Many Dorothys and Wicked Witches trekked through the rain for the event, along with a munchkin, some flying monkeys, and even a cow.

"This has to be one of my favorite nights," said BMFI Public Relations Manager Devin Wachs, who was busy snapping shots of costumed moviegoers as they entered the theater. "It's such a cherished event and people get so into it—it brings out people of all ages."

BMFI Executive Director Juliet Goodfriend said the theater hosts about five sing-alongs a year, and began the tradition fairly early on in BMFI's history.

"They're hugely successful and often sell out, particularly the Sound Of Music sing-along. Last time we had to turn away people who had come from 100 miles away," said Goodfriend, who was wearing a makeshift tin foil Tin Man costume.
