'Jules and Jim' at Bryn Mawr Film Institute

Cinematheque: A PIFA Moment

(NR) France – 1 hr 45 min – digital – In French with subtitles
1962 · d. Francois Truffaut
Starring Jeanne Moreau, Oskar Werner, Henri Serre

One of the most influential films of the French New Wave, Jules and Jim follows two best friends—one French and one Austrian—as they are divided by war and their love for the same free-spirited, reckless woman (Jeanne Moreau). Revolutionary filmmaker Francois Truffaut’s adaptation of Henri-Pierre Roche’s autobiographical novel is as fresh today as when it was first released. Catherine Lafarge, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of French at Bryn Mawr College, will introduce the film.
