Township Extending Storm Debris Collection

There has been an overwhelming response to the storm-debris removal, the township said.

Saying that the response to its storm debris cleanup plan has been "overwhelming," Lower Merion Township is extending storm debris removal for at least a week.

Pick-up of appropriately sized debris began on March 24. If your street has already been serviced, there will not be a second pickup, the township warned.

Limbs and branches may be up to 10 feet long and 15 inches in diameter and do not need to be bundled, the township said.

The township had previously released a pickup schedule, but because of the volume of debris, it's possible that previously scheduled pickups didn't happen, the township said. "If your street was scheduled to be picked up already but has not yet seen a collection team, one will be there in the days to come," the township said in a statement.

Storm debris should be placed curbside as soon as possible, the township said, adding that "collection crews cannot know in advance what day they will be on a given block."

Trash and recycling pickups will continue as normal, the township said.
