New Cosmetic Filler Debuts in Bryn Mawr

The revolutionary health and beauty product Voluma® has found a home in Philadelphia.

After several years on the market in Europe and Canada, the injectable facial treatment arrives amid great fanfare. Drs. Marc Cohen and Nancy Swartz, Philadelphia’s premier cosmetic surgeons, have been working with Allergan to properly introduce the product.

“This is a remarkably easy, safe procedure that produces natural round contours and high cheekbones,” Cohen said. “Voluma is the first filler designed to lift the face and restore the smooth features of youth.”

Small, momentary injections are made to key locations on the face, and there is little to no recovery time. Results are seen almost immediately, although bruising can occur.

The process of aging can lead to a reduction in facial fat, a crucial component to looking young. Like the best fillers already on the market -- Juvederm® and Restylane® -- Voluma is made of hyaluronic acid.  However Voluma can last up to two years after treatment.

“Our firsthand experience has been working with Canadian doctors,” Swartz said. “Respected industry leaders across the border have been using the product for five years and can attest to the hype.”

The long and arduous FDA approval process stems from a conscious approach to health and welfare, Swartz and Cohen said. Their track record indicates a high standard for products like Voluma, with sensitive decisions to make on labeling and advertising campaigns. Overall, Voluma has made a smooth transition through the levels of approval.

Consumers are now able to receive the product at select locations, including at Dr. Cohen and Dr. Swartz’s office in Bala Cynwyd.
