BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID;X-RICAL-TZSOURCE=TZINFO:-//com.denhaven2/NONSGML ri_cal gem//EN CALSCALE:GREGORIAN VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT DESCRIPTION:The Marple-Newtown Fourth of July Parade Committee\, Marple T ownship Commissioners and Broomall Rotary Club announced the third annua l Firecracker 5K race\, which will be run in conjunction with the July 4 th Parade.\n&ldquo\;The event was a great success last year with over 40 0 runners. \; The parade spectators got a thrill out of seeing all t he men\, women and children running up &\; down West Chester Pike.&nb sp\; We hope to top that with more runners and more prizes. \; Most importantly\, we are having fun while we raise funds for the Broomall Ro tary's charitable service projects&rdquo\; says race director and Brooma ll Rotarian John McCoy.\nThe race will begin at 9:25 a.m. near the Broom all Fire Station and will run in the west bound lanes of West Chester Pi ke along the parade route. \; Just past Bryn Mawr Avenue in Newtown Square\, the runners will make a U-turn and return to the Broomall Fire Station. \; An awards ceremony and the raffle drawings will follow.\ nA 5 kilometer race is 3.1 miles in distance. Fast runners will complete the course in about 15 minutes and everyone will complete the run befor e the parade. The race is open to everyone who can complete the course i n less than one hour.
