March 1 – 31, 2012
Reception: Saturday March 3rd from 6-9pm featuring fantastic music by Brian Kors
Artists Talk and Demo Saturday March 17th from 2-4pm by Melissa Maddonni Haims

In conjunction with FiberPhiladelphia 2012, Nichols Berg Gallery is pleased to
announce its March exhibition featuring the work of Marie Elcin,
Melissa Maddonni Haims, Rachel Udell and the late Maggie Brosnan. This exhibit, curated by Ms. Haims, celebrates the bonds between women and fiber arts; both traditional and non-traditional. Brosnan, an artist from California, who passed away in the mid 1990’s, worked on the outskirts of the societal norm during her art-making period (from the 1960’s until her death in 1994) dyeing her own wool and spinning her own yarns to create fantastical capes and creations, such as a singular, knitted, right hand glove.

Elcin, Haims and Udell are all Philadelphia based fiber artists who
embrace the maternal aspects of fiber arts in theme, material and
technique. Embroidery, soft sculpture and non-traditional textiles
will be highlighted in this show.

Additionally, in the gallery’s mezzanine, Steve Berg has brought together three very talented and innovative weavers from

Minnesota, North Dakota and Oregon;  Pamela Davis, Anita Monsebroten, and Judy Ness which features stunningdecorative and functional woven works of art.
