Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Who'll Line Up Next Door to the Hamels Foundation?

A Lancaster Avenue retail storefront is vacant next to the Phillies pitcher's charity's new home.

Patch wants to hear from residents of Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne and beyond: What should fill the retail vacancies of your neighborhood streets?

Today, we're spotlighting the retail building at 876 W. Lancaster Ave. in Bryn Mawr, next to where the Hamels Foundation—a charity run by Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels and his wife, Heidi—is opening offices and a retail shop.

Showcase Comics is on the other side of the vacant space, which is on the south side of Lancaster Avenue. Prospective tenants should call 610-527-4800.

So tell us in the comments section below: What kind of business would you be most likely to frequent if it moved in? And what other vacancies in town do you have ideas about filling?

Several years ago there was a cd/record store there, think it was Just for the Record. Perhaps a used cd place would work. Maybe a breakfast/lunch or doughnut place. Except for pizza places and full restaurants or bars there are not too many places that serve sandwiches or breakfast in the area.

There is no cafe at all along the Main Line that stay opens late and serves dessert. Often we go into town for dinner, but would like to come back closer to home to continue the evening with friends over coffee and/or dessert. The Point which used to be on that block was a great example of a cozy cafe which offered healthy food and provided a well needed gathering place.
