The Week Ahead: 5 Things to Know
A heads up for those who live or work in Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne, Villanova and Rosemont.
1. The Bryn Mawr Business Association is holding a general membership meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Line Art Center. They will discuss Bryn Mawr Day, Ludington Library and the New Leaf Club, among other things.
2. The first of four free guitar workshops is being held at Harcum College at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The others will be Aug. 7, Aug. 14 and Aug. 21.
3. Bryn Mawr Film Institute is hosting a Bye Bye Birdie sing-along on Wednesday night at 7. The cast of Footlighters Theater’s recent production of Bye Bye Birdie will open BMFI’s Sing-along with a live performance. And as always, there's free popcorn to be had if you wear a costume.
4. The Lower Merion Board of Commissioners at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday will discuss an emergency watershed protection grant program at a public works committee meeting. The grant, which would involve agreements between the township, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the state Department of Environmental Protection and three property owners (from Gladwyne, Penn Valley and Ardmore), would be used alleviate costs of emergency stream bank repair.
5. The Lower Merion Board of Commissioners will also consider for denial a Natural Features Code waiver requested by a Gladwyne property owner who, township officials say, chopped down 144 trees on his property without permission.
