Smartphone App Provides Bryn Mawr 100 Guide
The app includes GPS mapping, information and historical photos.
Anyone participating in the upcoming Bryn Mawr 100 Day celebration on Sept. 8 can access information about the 21 century-old institutions in Bryn Mawr through an app on their smartphones.
When developers of the smartphone app "Tagwhat" contacted the Lower Merion Conservancy, former historic preservation director (and coordinator of the Bryn Mawr Day celebrations) Lori Salganicoff contacted Lawren Bale, of BrynMawrPA.org, to see what he thought of it.
"Once I found the Tagwhat application, I saw in this case it would really fit perfectly with the celebration," said Bale.
Bale set up a "Bryn Mawr 100" channel on the app, which acts as a sort of mobile tour guide to the 21 Bryn Mawr institutions, he said. The app includes GPS mapping, as well as interesting information and historical photos.
Credit really is due to Bobbi McElroy, who works with both Bryn Mawr Beautiful and the Lower Merion Historical Society and compiled all the information, Bale added.
