RABBIT HOLE AND THE ILLUSIONIST

Where/When: , 824 W. Lancaster Ave., start Friday, March 11. Check BMFI’s Web site for show times.

Why go: Go see one of these Academy Award-nominated films (or both) that begin showing at BMFI on Friday.

Pricing: $10 for adults, $5 for BMFI members, $7 for students and seniors

MARCH BIRDWALK: WEST MILL CREEK PART AND FLAT ROCK PARK

Where/When: Meet at West Mill Creek Park, near the intersection of Old Gulp Road and Mill Creek Road, 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12

Why go: Bring your binoculars and field guides to be led on a search to see birds—belted kingfishers, herons, ducks, woodpeckers and more—that live along Mill Creek and the Schuylkill River.

COMPOST CRAZY

Where/When: Riverbend Environmental Education Center, 1950 Spring Mill Road, Gladwyne, 2:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 12

Why go: Learn how to recycle the natural way by turning leftovers and leaves into a lovely compost. Learn how to build your own compost bin, too.

GLADWYNE LIBRARY LEAGUE’S ANNUAL ARTS & CRAFTS SHOW

Where/When: Gladwyne Library, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 11, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 11.

Why go: Local artists of all ages, and who work in a number of different mediums, submitted work to this annual show that’s been running since 1954. This year, they had to limit entries to three per artist because of the high turnout last year. 

Pricing: Free (unless you buy one of the pieces of artwork for sale)

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

Where/When: Riely Theatre, Shipley’s Upper School, 7:30 p.m. March 10, 11 and 12; 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13.

Why go: Upper School students at Shipley will perform this dark rock musical about a blood-thirsty plant that appears in a rundown flower shop on Skid Row.
