Get Out: Things to Do July 8-10

Hoops in Rolling Hill Park

  • When/Where: 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 9 at Rolling Hill Park (meet at the top of the park)
  • Why Go: Hula hoop with the Lower Merion Conservancy staff and Leah from Loopdihoops for a morning of hula hooping instruction for kids and adults ages 7 and older. Hoops of all sizes will be provided. Pre-registration required.
  • Cost: Free

Steve Forbert at Bryn Mawr Twilight Concerts

  • When/Where: 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 at The Bryn Mawr Gazebo, 9 S. Bryn Mawr Ave.
  • Why Go: Enjoy the music of folk/rock singer-songwriter Steve Forbert on Saturday night, with opener by Jonathan Doh. Feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the music. Parking for the concert is free, and the concert will be held outdoors, rain or shine.
  • Cost: Donation is $10 per person, children ages 16 and younger are free.

 

Live Simulcast: "Children of Paradise"

  • When/Where: 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 at Bryn Mawr Film Institute
  • Why Go: A ballet simulcast live from the Paris Opera Ballet, Children of Paradise is a recent ballet choreographed by dancer Jose Martinez. The ballet is loosely based around the 1949 film of the same name. 
  • Cost: $20 general admission, $18 members, $10 students with ID

 

"Company" Encore Performance

  • When/Where: 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 10 at Bryn Mawr Film Institute
  • Why Go: After selling out the June 19 broadcast of this play that was performed only a couple of times, BMFI added an encore presentation. The story is about a bachelor (Neil Patrick Harris) celebrating his 35th birthday and the non-chronological events surrounding it and involving five of his married couple friends. 
  • Cost: $20 general admission, $18 members, $10 students with ID

 

   

  • When/Where: 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 on State Street in downtown Media
    Why Go: Enjoy professional theater presentations, visual art displays, live music and dancing, children’s activities, crafts and more on Media's State Street this Saturday. Festivities include a reenactment of the Storming of Bastille, strolling performers, plein air painters, silk painting, tie dying and more.
    Cost: Free
