A Midsummer Night’s Dream

• When: Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m.

• Why Go: The Wolf Performing Arts Center presents A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare’s fantastical comedy of mistaken identity, run-away lovers, mischievous fairies, magical elves, and theatrical mechanics explores a world of enchantment in one warm summer night.  This production is recommended for audiences of all ages, performed by children, teens, and adults.

Jack and the Beanstalk

• When: Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 16 at 1 p.m.
• Where:
• Why Go: A creative re-telling of the classic tale of Jack’s journey up a beanstalk to a magical giant kingdom.  This delightful production is for audiences of all ages performed by children and teens.

Service of Nine Lessons and Carols

• When: Sunday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m.
• Where: Church of The Redeemer 250 Pennswood Rd, Bryn Mawr
• Why Go: The combined choirs of the Church of the Redeemer will present a Service of Nine Lessons and Carols. Based on the well-known annual service at King’s College Chapel in England, the service includes many beautiful and beloved carols and choral works for the season. Advent and Christmas scripture lessons will also be read. Early seating is advised.

Where the Wild Things Are

• When: Saturday, Dec. 15, 11 a.m.
• Where:Bryn Mawr Film Institute
• Why Go: After disobedient young Max is sent to bed without supper, he uses his imagination to create a fantastical world on a remote island. Once there, he’s proclaimed a King by a group of teeth-gnashing beasties known only as the Wild Things. Get in touch with your inner Wild Thing as visionary director Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich) brings Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s story to life
• Cost: $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids.

Natural Ornaments – Family Fun Night

• When: Saturday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.
• Where: Riverbend
• Why Go: Bring your family out for an evening of natural fun.  Help everyone get in the holiday spirit with ornaments made from natural materials, and some ornaments to help our local wildlife through the long winter.  Please pre-register to scarr@riverbendeec.org or 610-527-5234 x108.
• Cost: $15 per family

Christmas Planetarium Show

• When: December 14 and 15.  7 and 8 p.m. shows each night
• Where:
• Why Go: The show is based on a dialog between an astronomer and his five-year-old daughter who wants to know why we have certain Christmas traditions. The show explains the origins of many of our Christmas customs and then investigates when Jesus might have been born. For more information, please visit their website.

Harford Dog Park Holiday Party

• When: Saturday, Dec. 15 from Noon - 2 p.m.
  
• Where: Harford Park
  
• Why Go: Enjoy food, fun, doggie treats, raffle items, pictures with Santa, and a doggie gift exchange.
  
• Cost: Free *bring wrapped gift to participate in gift exchange

The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long

• When: Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.
• Where: Bryn Mawr Film Institute
• Why Go: A holiday tradition, BMFI’s The Sound of Music sing-along is the ultimate audience participation event for fans of the screen version of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical about a plucky young nun who sings her way into the hearts of the von Trapp family. Costumes are encouraged: Wear a wimple, lederhosen, or even dress as “a drop of golden sun”!
