Drunken Man Waved Loaded Gun in Bryn Mawr Fight, Police Say

A 24-year-old Lancaster County man is charged with reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Lower Merion officers arrested a man in Bryn Mawr early Tuesday morning after, police said, he waved a loaded gun while intoxicated during a confrontation on Lancaster Avenue.

Ian Thomas Murry, 24, of the Lancaster County town of Conestoga is charged with recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Police said he and another man—Nikolai Tymkiw, 23, of Rosemont—were in an altercation about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday on the 1000 block of Lancaster Avenue with a third man in which Murry brandished his weapon.

Tymkiw and Murry then walked west on Lancaster while witnesses sought out police. When officers approached Murry and asked whether he was armed, he denied he was, but then once patted down he admitted he had a gun in a holster in his vest and handed it over, police said. The gun was licensed, police added.

Murry and Tymkiw were each tested for blood alcohol content and registered 0.17. Tymkiw, too, was cited for public intoxication.

Murry's bail was set at $5,000 unsecured. His preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Henry Schireson is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Monday, March 5.
