Barack Obama Wins Pennsylvania

Voters in Pennsylvania on Tuesday cast their ballots for Barack Obama, giving the president the state's 20 electoral votes.

Mutliple media outlets are calling President Barack Obama the projected winner of Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes.

In the 2008 presidential election, the state voted for Barack Obama, and since the 1990s, has voted for the overall winner of the presidential race three out of five times.

Former Gov. Mitt Romney and Obama campaigned aggressively in Pennsylvania. The state has typically been a Democratic stronghold in recent presidential elections.

Romney spent part of Election Day in Pittsburgh and visited Bucks County on Sunday, drawing 25,000 supporters.

On Monday, former President Bill Clinton was in the Philadelphia suburbs and Romney surrogates, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, swept through eastern Pennsylvania, including a stop at Bethlehem's Westgate Mall.

It was a big deal as his name was purged from the roles only because he had not voted, not because he was no longer registered. Phoenixville like all areas that tend to have high Democratic party voters was specifically targeted by Republicans to challenge as many the voting rights of Democratic party voters.

If you want to pay higher taxes, then write a check to the U.S. treasury. You can do that any time of year you like. In fact, maybe all the wealthy Dems should write a few extra checks to help cover the ever increasing amount of able people that "WON'T" work and will be receiving government checks in the years to come.

There is a map of every place Mitt and Obama have campaigned since the RNC at the end of August. It shows that Obama won nearly every state he campaigned, with the only exception being North Carolina. Mitt didn't stand a chance. Nate Silver knew it. I knew it. Anyone who didn't know it would turn out like this were fooling themselves and they really need to re-evaluate how they collect facts.

We just had an election in which we all had one vote and the result is that the majority of people have spoken. Now, as a good citizen of this community you have an obligation to respect that outcome and move forward. Stop with the misinformation, self pity, and sour grapes attitudes and start working to help heal this great nation that you claim to love soooo much.
So your choices are, you can either continue to be the problem by refusing to respect others, show disgust for those who need a helping hand and love your own point of view more than America, or stop with the bull and start being a good citizen.

Good verse. I'm fond of the following...

Matthew 25: 35-40 "‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ "

So many conservatives with good Christian values show how they feel about "the least of them" every day~

Bertie Rustle below....how dare you act like the conservatives do not care. God knows and for you to act like you are God and know that an entire group doesn't care. People tithing and helping from their heart is not the same as government programs. The Bible also says, "He who does not work, does not eat." Also, how is it tithing if the government takes it from you ? We are meant to give from the heart, not through a government. Your verse is very good for individuals to take to heart...but it absolutely has nothing to do with government. Also, lets look at who is a better friend to Israel. The Bible also indicates how he will look at nations that bless Israel vs those who do not. Pres. Obama is Not a friend of Israel. He believes that it is good to make abortions legal and that what God calls an abomination (homosexuality) is a right. I think we all should look up the word abomination. But all that being said....every church who has me on their email newletters reminds us to pray for everyone in office. I certainly will do that. I pray that Pres Obama will realize that people need to work to earn their pay. We need 100% to help widows and orphans, but we need to teach the poor how to earn a living honestly. We need to teach people that we all have sin & that we cannot just do "whatever feel good", but rather must deny ourselves. I pray that the homosexuals will find freedom in Christ. I pray that our country will make it illegal to have abortions and use narcotics.

Dear Anonymous-
How dare I? Well, openly and with no shame, the truth sets me free to do so. The Bible says a lot of things, things like "Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" - in other words, pay your taxes, they're the price we pay for a decent society, we are our brother's keeper.

I always find it interesting when someone has to reach back to the old testament to try to educate us all about abominations. I do hope you weren't wearing a blend and eating shrimp when you wrote that, I mean, wouldn't that put you in that same category? I only mention this because if you truly believe one part of Leviticus, logic dictates that every word is so and any infraction puts your mortal soul in danger.

In any case, didn't Jesus make a new covenant? If I recall correctly from my religion class (where I earned first honors, btw) he did! A new and everlasting covenant. Do you understand what that means? Now, either you will honor the word of Jesus and love your neighbor as you love yourself or you will choose not to. it's really that simple.

What this government needs to do is cut spending. If it doesn't our nation's downward slide will continue. Based on the last 4 years, it is reasonable to predict government. spending will continue to greatly increase. Romney would have put an end to this culture of "government , what can you do for me, what can i get from you?" All we can do now for the next 4 years is watch our hard earned taxes be spent in wasteful ways that reap no benefits to our country. And so we slip into decline faster. The taxpayers and vets in this country are fed up, feel used and are worried we may never be able to turn this debt problem around. There are too many people on the government hand out side now voting, including illegal voters. They want to perpetuate this not realizing they have almost killed the goose that lays the golden egg, our country.

@Frank C. - It is wonderful that you have never required assistance from our government. There are countless people who have lost their jobs, applied for new ones, attended classes, sat through interviews and then informed that nothing is available for them. Too old, not enough experience, too much experience and countless others. Do you have any idea how embarrassing that is? Do you have any compassion for people trying to help themselves? I agree that many people also take advantage of our outdated system but the STATE needs to do some re-vamping and take charge.

You are sadly shortsighted if you believe only lazy people want to be supported. Sometimes, Frank, we all need a boost. We need a hand out and a hand up. Imagine the shame many people feel when they need to have aid. Imagine. You should try to walk in someone's life before you begin your comments that are not entirely correct. Compassion and empathy is certainly not in great supply. That is a shame.

Agree Slyfox that govt. programs do help people the programs were set up to helo. But the problem now in this country is we are in debt so badly we will be unable to sustain anything good. This is due to a culture of wasteful spending. Unfortunately this President seems to have no interest at any level in cutting wasteful spending . The things you described do not fall in the category of wasteful spending. Americans are honored to help each other. We are known for that. We just don't like being used. It all costs money. We do not have any money. Things have to be prioritized. We can not continue to spend money we don't have. Priority one is cut spending on things that don't directly relate to our country's survival in the future. Then we can spend on education which is also at the top of the list of priorities along with military.

I am surprised by these posts??? It seems that not one republican can look up facts. Welfare was reformed in 1996 by President Clinton. it is no longer an entitleent program. everyone has been kickef off, except mothers of small children. Welfare is avaialble for 60 months in your lifetime, and you must work 20 hours a week to get the cash assistance. There are a great many whites (39%) we get welfare. No one ever complains about the whites on welfare. LOL. Most of the White Trash that was generationally on welfare were able to move over to SSI......talk about a waste of tax dollars!! How about a discussion about corporate welfare highly suported by Republicans. It almost caused our economic system to fail...bailouts etc. We have become a nation of haters. We hate minorities, gays, people on welfare, the poor are almost outcasts on our society. We do we like?? not each other for sure. Can't we stop all the hate and villanizing the poor and the educated??? ca't we all decide it is ok to help a poor welfare mom who was abused by her husband, and is trying to feed her children who are our children? STOP the hate!! Read statistics,
Let's talk about WAR...ending the 2 we have been for no reason because of Bush. Our economy tanked because of warmongering in useless countries. Bush started the Department of Homeland Security with no increased taxes...Thousands of employees to take on...where does the money come from??

Not sure who wrote this, but he/she nailed it: “The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.”
“The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.
The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

Remember, don't exhale so you can reduce your CO2 footprint.

Our government is in direct violation of it's own Constitution every day that our troops continue to occupy another country without ever having declared a Declaration of War. It is aggressive bullying behavior that WE would never accept from another country...yet the Reich seems to ignore that factor and continues to support it.

If anything - we are as much a nuclear threat to the globe with our irresponsible nuclear practices. Reactors were never shut down to cool last week, when Sandy was a clear and imminent threat. With the exception of Oyster Creek in NJ, not one of the other 20+ reactors in Sandy's path were shut down!
That seems like more of a threat to the world than some crazy Muslims gathering uranium in a country that is decades away from producing the weapons that could even deliver it!

It is reasonable to expect four more years of the same, for better or worse. But know this, Congress as a whole and the administrations have led the country into bankruptcy. Both parties together have engaged in senseless wars, created all manner of entitlement programs, and borrowed the country into debt from which it cannot recover. The situation is exactly the same as a household that repeatedly gets new credit cards to pay the balances of the old ones, don't forget the interest, yet the total debt of the household always rises. By continually borrowing from the Federal Reserve, which prints the money into existence, and thereby causes inflation, the country is merely postponing the inevitable. It's only a question of when the US begins to default in a big way on its obligations. (Remember we lost our AAA credit rating?) Congress knows this, both parties, they just continue to play shell games with the debt. It's only a matter of time. Obama alone is not to blame, the Bush family alone is not to blame, Congress alone is not to blame, they're all to blame! Until we voters wise up and vote to toss all the incumbents, with the exception of Ron Paul and a few others, we are fiscally doomed. And don't forget, the bankers that caused the 2008 financial meltdown have yet to be indicted for their frauds.

Actually, the 2008 financial meltdown was caused by Barney and the Democrats who forced the banks to give very risky loans to people who did not qualify for them.

The republican party had a chance to prevail had they had courage enough to embrace their conservative roots, and offer a real choice, a real difference, from the status quo. Seperate yourself. Lead by example. But no, like cowards and theives, they rammed "rule 16" down the throats of delegates at the RNC, and changed forever the possibility that a voice of reason could influence the platform. Had a true conservative republican been given a fair chance, the outcome for republicans, democrats, and our Republic would now be filled with the promise of much hard work ahead. Instead we have the status quo, tyranny by the elite, not rule of law, to keep us warm on our descent into oligarchy. "Gee honey, let's order lobster, the kids are buying."

Yes, a 'true conservative' - I'm sure a strict pro-life, anti-immigration platform would have totally solved your party's lack of female and Hispanic voters.

How is it that almost all of the precinct map is red, yet Obama won??? Can there be more people in those few blue areas??

Potter county had about 6,000 people vote, and Romney won that county. Philadelphia had 600,000+ people vote, and a large majority of them voted for Obama, Chester County had about 230,000+ people vote, 49.8 for Romney and 49.1 for Obama, so it was about 115,000+ for each. So to answer your question, yes, there are more people in the blue areas than the red.

"49.8 for Romney and 49.1 for Obama" flip those numbers.

Richard-the Democrats get the young college vote because they are hoping for help with student loans. In general, Democrats are on the receiving end from government in one way or another. It is the "what can government do for me" mentality. And in the end with our debt, our government will not be able to do anything for Democrats or anyone else.

"They believe in free stuff. We believe in free people." - U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, 2012 vice presidential nominee

I think we are going to end up Communist, never mind Socialist.

Democrats get the young, college vote because they are hoping for help with student loans?? That's as ridiculous a generalization as Ive ever heard. Most young college kids vote Democrat because of ACTUAL issues like abortion, women's rights, gay rights, immigration, etc. Please dont insinuate that the majority of college students are so dim and one sided that they are only voting based on student loans. Thats ridiculous.

DPB, Welcome to the 21st Century! The Republican ideology of theocratic governance and monopolistic power were rejected by we the people in majority numbers. Also rejected was the hate, fear, and obstruction of progress that has been peddled and embraced by the Republican party/ Tea partiers.

In general, everybody is on the receiving end from government in one way or another. The roads your drive on, the forces that keep the airspace safe for commercial flights, the environmental regulations that keep our air and water clean, the laws that shape our society, etc.

I actually see it as this.

Republicans: All I care about is taking care of myself and my family. Forget people I don't actually know.

Democrats: I care about myself, my family, and people I don't know.

That's the bare bones difference. Whether you believe that we are all in this together, or if you want to be an island. I believe a good measure of a person is if they care enough to say "I'm ok with lending a hand to somebody for the sake of society, and not just myself".

Ed, it is people like you who are the problem in this country. If you seriously believe that Republicans only care about themselves, you are sick. We differ on the best way to accomplish prosperity and provide the right assistance for those who really need it, but for you to say something like that shows how shallow you really are.

Tim, I stand by my statement. A whole party of folks who actually believe we should have to go into debt if we get sick, and should have "worked hard enough" to afford astronomical insurance fees, is a party of people who fundamentally only care about what's in it for them. Jesus would of been for universal healthcare, and any decent "conservative christian" also should believe it is in our fundamental best interests to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. Most "liberals" I know aren't interested in free stuff. They believe we are all in this together.

Feodor, Feodor. What in the world does losing an election have to do with the issues? It may be hard to accept the results, but in what way does it make the issues dead wrong? Obama has been dead wrong on the key issues, which is why this country is where it is. Winning the election doesn't make his approach to the issues any better.

Working Together
The gloating and name calling by both sides is unproductive, the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle.Tough decisions are ahead. We need both sides to stop posturing and get to work. What I see in these posts is a lack of respect, a problem on both sides of the isle in our government.
What government should provide is a delicate balance and we need to revisit programs that are just not financially tenable any longer.
We are all going to feel pain, we just need to make sure it's distributed equally.

90% of people are unhappy and 90% of people don't vote in the primaries because they're too busy to get involved. See the corolation? If you don't think the primaries are important, then don't be surprised if a Ku Klux Klan member gets 50 signatures in May and appears on the ballot in November for schoolboard.
