Bryn Mawr College’s Katharine Houghton Hepburn Center will honor acclaimed musician, writer, performer and visual artist Patti Smith with this year’s Katharine Hepburn Medal. Smith was a trailblazer in the male-dominated world of rock and roll, and has produced a body of work whose influence branches out through generations, across disciplines, and around the world. The Katharine Hepburn Medal recognizes women who change their worlds: those whose lives, work and contributions embody the intelligence, drive and independence of the four-time Oscar winner.
The reception will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 6:30-10:00 p.m. on the Bryn Mawr College campus in Goodhart Hall. The medal ceremony will be held from 8:00-8:45 p.m.
Tickets are $175 each and will go on sale on January 28, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. They will be sold at www.brynmawr.edu/hepburn/medal.shtml and a limited number are available. Credit or debit card are required.
